Adaptation works of the reduction plant of the Gagliano Castelferrato pipeline, Sparacollo (Enna). New construction works and plant parts decommissioned were carried out. The demolition and decommissioning phases involved the dismantling of plants and pipelines.

As regards the implants, the following were carried out:

• decommissioning and dismantling of the existing reduction plant, including the retaining walls in reinforced concrete;
• removal of valves and replacement;
• cutting of pipes, insertion of pipe stubs;
• disposal of purges and detachment. As regards the pipelines, the PIDI / HPRS DN 300 (12 “), DN 400 (16”) and DN 500 (20 “) interconnections were discontinued.

The construction phases involved the construction of the new plant, pipelines and road and containment works of the entire area of ​​competence of the plant itself, including the access road, and precisely for the mechanical part:

• construction of a temporary reduction plant;
• new reduction plant HPRS 50 IS 75/24 with Isolation System
• installation of the departure and arrival trap on the Gagliano C. – Sparacollo pipeline;
• PIDI expansion for the insertion of a double rating valve;
• construction of the forward gas pipeline, return gas pipeline, exclusion system (Isolation System) in protective tube, emergency by-pass between PIDI, emergency connection inside the trap area of ​​Gagliano (DP = 75 bar), with relative cathodic protection;
• insertion of pipe stubs DN 500 and DN 400 (DP 75 bar).

As regards civil works, Solesi S.p.A. has carried out:

• soil containment works through the execution of draining trenches, bulkheads of bored piles, bulkheads of micropiles, anchor rods;
• remaking of curbs, construction of roads, yards, paving and installation of a new fence;
• Electrical and lighting systems;
• Lightning protection systems;
• Electro-instrumental systems.
